NGK XR4IX Iridium IX. Above is the best plug I found for my Allis-Chalmers. They start and run perfectly every time. They are a little pricey but they will be the last plugs you ever put in your tractor. The best price I've found is at Rock Auto. Autolite, Champion, and AC conventional tiped plugs are junk.
A tractor engine will not have a hole in the block below the engine oil filter for a fuel pump to attach. If the letter code is a "Z" and there is a hole for a fuel pump that is covered with a plate, that engine is from a Gleaner model "E-3" or a late model "E". M code is 7.25 to 1 compression ratio. Z code is 8.0 to 1 compression ratio.

The correct answer: Yes, up to a point. The B and the C are basicly the same tractor, with the B set up as a 1 row tractor and the C being set up as a 2 row tractor. Early B's however have the BE 116 Cubic Inch Engine, while the later B's and (from what I have found and heard) all the C's had the CE 125 Cubic Inch Engine.

Dave, Twist, pull etc to get the rubber shift knob off, then just slide your new boot on. If I remember right the gear shift has a ball on the end to retain the rubber knob, also might try squirting some lubricant up into the knob from the bottom side. Yank off the cylinder head and go thru it completely....valve guides, and valve job at a MINIMUM. Maybe will need new valves and seats. #4. Completely overhaul the engine, which will surely take care of your oil pressure complaint if you do it right. New mains, rods, cam bearings, oil pump, etc, etc.
Nope. It's either inertially or magnetically driven. All you have to switch to positive ground on that diagram is reverse the battery leads, swap the ammeter connections and repolarize the generator. Actually you don't have to reverse the ammeter, but you'd have to know that - means + and + means -. Coke.

1939 Allis-Chalmers "B" restored in 2010- very good condition. the fine "crap" gets in the carb bowl and makes a deposit and sticks inside the main jet.... take the carb apart, clean the bowl, poke a fine wire thru the jets ( remove them if they will come out), then blow out with compressed air and reassemble.

Check governor weights for wear. Slip a small screwdriver under the O rings on bottom of new sleeves and go around the sleeve a few times to get out any twists in the O rings. Be sure to install the little F type looking gaskets on rear main bearing cap. Some after market gasket sets don't have them in it.

It's easier to apologise than to get permission. The camshaft and crankshaft marks line up on Top Dead Center as well the governor gear. If you do all your timing settings at top dead center you will not get confused. Some use the fire mark to set the magneto in. All engines use top dead center to mark timing gears.
You have to take the sheet metal pan off and scoop to get the old crud out... There is a 3/8 inch pipe plug to put less than a quart of gear lube back in.. you can use 80-90 or similar in EACH final drive. Edited by steve (ill) - 26 Sep 2016 at 12:24pm. Like them all, but love the "B"s. 1939Dodge.

The B that was equipped with a Magneto had either a single push/pull grounding switch, or a dual terminal grounding switch. The real early B's had the single self grounding switch. Later in the B/C production, the two terminal switch was introduced as a replacement. One side of the switch went to the Mag, the other side to ground.
Like them all, but love the "B"s. I am not certain but there may not have been hydrallics on the 1938 B. Also, the PTO housing did not have the opening on the lobes installed to mount a pump. However, If you do not have hydrallics, that is easily remedied by - as Steve Says - getting a newer PTO with the pump opening.

Suggest that you start by checking the spark right after it quits. It could be either the coil or condenser shorting after things heat up. Same thing applies to the fuel supply. as quick as possible after it stops running try draining fuel from the carb. A rebuilt carb should work fine but try removing the fuel filter.
